On Pentecost Day, June 18, 1989, at a General Assembly, the
members voted to build a new Church. In September of that same
year, the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the
Church took place. On February 1st, 1991 the new church was officially opened and His Eminence Metropolitan Sotirios, assisted by Fr. Christopher Decavallas, and Fr. Paul Zmiyiwsky and Fr. Vasyl Maluzynski of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada. The Greek Orthodox Church Non-Profit Housing Corporation was formed to construct a fifty-unit townhouse complex for needy families. On December 8, 1991 our housing project ?Hellenic Village? was officially opened by His Eminence Metropolitan Sotirios, representatives of the Federal and Provincial Government Housing delegates, MP Joe Comuzzi and His Worship Mayor David Hamilton. In the following years, the following priests served our community: Fr. Dimitrios Callozzo, Fr. Elias Buzinde and Fr. Makarios Giannopoulos. Currently our parish is being served by Reverend Fr. Nikolaos Tambakis, who is from our Orthodox Theological Academy in Toronto. During the last 88 years, with faith in God, much has been accomplished. We pray that our members of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church will continue to work diligently in the coming years for the glory of God. < previous page
